The newly created Optics and Photonics Centre at IIT Delhi invites applications for Faculty positions at the levels of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor.

About the Centre:

Optics and Photonics Centre has been created recently at IIT Delhi, with a mission to develop into a globally-competitive 'look-up-to' Centre in India for all areas of Optics and Photonics, from fundamentals to cutting-edge research and technology, for advanced-level teaching & training, certification, product development and entrepreneurship. The Centre aims to foster an interdisciplinary environment where students and researchers with diverse backgrounds who will explore new frontiers in Optics and Photonics with equal emphasis on fundamentals as well as device development are welcome. The Centre would pursue innovations in traditional areas such as optical engineering, optical instrumentation and metrology, optical imaging, fiber optics, optical communication, nonlinear optics, statistical and quantum optics, optical sensors, and laser technology as well as modern areas including ultrafast optics, integrated optics, silicon photonics, nanophotonics, plasmonics, biophotonics, green photonics, quantum photonics, terahertz photonics, optical metamaterials, optical and magneto-optical storage devices, photonic devices, and other relevant areas.

The Centre currently offers Ph.D. program and plans to offer soon, Master degree programs in the area of Optics and Photonics. Faculty members of the Centre are expected to establish top-quality, innovative and socially relevant research programs & facilities, teach and mentor students, and contribute to the goals of the Centre and the Institute.

The Centre seeks applications from researchers and professionals with demonstrated record of original contributions in terms of high quality publications, patents or product design/development activities performed at academic institutions or industry. The prospective candidates may apply clearly stating their vision for growth of their research programs and their plans to contribute to the growth of Optics and Photonics community in India. Applicants must have excellent academic record, a Ph.D. in the area of Optics and Photonics or a closely related discipline, and good research experience represented by high quality publications/patents.
